Thank you for smoking.

If sharp, cutting, political satire is to your liking, try the books of Christopher Buckley. If the last name is familiar it is because he is the son of the writer and commentator William F. Buckley. In the past, Buckley has taken on spoofing political memoirs of an inept Presidential administration [The White House Mess], conspiracy theories and alien abductions [Little Green Men], Presidential indiscretions [No Way to Treat a First Lady] and Arab-American relations [Florence of Arabia].

Earlier this year, one of his books, Thank you for smoking, was turned into a wickedly amusing film starring Aaron Eckhart as Nick Naylor a sexy, smart and charismatic spin-doctor for Big Tobacco who will fight to protect American's right to smoke. At the same time he is trying to maintain the idea of a perfect role model for his 12-year-old son. When Nick incurs the wrath of a senator bent on snuffing out cigarettes, Nick's powers of "filtering the truth" will be put to the test. The movie has just been released on DVD and has been recently been added into our collection.

Read, watch, laugh and enjoy!
