Best Books of 2008: Here Comes Everybody

It's that time of year again, and your friendly neighborhood librarians are eager to tell you about the best books of 2008. Here is Jim with a review of his favorite book of the year.

Here Comes Everybody: the Power of Organizing without Organizations by Clay Shirky

New technology such as blogs, Wikipedia and Twitter have lowered the cost of organizing groups to the point that any motivated persons can now gather and work together in ways that were not possible just a few years ago. This profound technological shift is already creating significant challenges to long established organizations such as newspaper companies and political dictatorships, and will have other unpredictable effects.
