Help for Burbank Families: Holiday Baskets

Every year the Burbank Libraries participate in the Holiday Basket program, which assembles and delivers food, presents, and gift cards to Burbank families in need. We get basic information about three families and then the shopping begins! This year our library pages had to make two trips to gather all the boxes and wrapped gifts. I am touched by the generosity of my coworkers and I sincerely hope that we made the season a little brighter for our neighbors. I just wish they knew how blessed and honored we feel to serve them.

This is an annual program, so if you or your business would like to participate, please call the Burbank Coordinating Council at (818) 843-3699 next year.

It's not too late to give directly to your community, however. The Burbank Leader just today reported that the local Salvation Army is in desperate need of donations. They currently only have enough food to offer 120 families a holiday meal, though nearly 400 have registered. Holiday items like canned vegetables, rice, and boxed potatoes would be greatly appreciated. The drop-off is located at 300 E. Angeleno.
