2009 Nobel Prize in Literature is awarded to....

Herta Müller, a Romanian-born German novelist and essayist who is known for her writings about the oppression of dictatorship in her native country and the unmoored existence of the political exile, won the 2009 Nobel Prize in Literature on Thursday.

The Burbank Public Library owns 3 novels by Muller but as often happens, winning the Nobel Prize will open up the American publishing market for her books and I think it safe to say that you'll see her spotlighted more in bookstores and that we'll acquire more titles when they become available. In the mean time you can read what we own!

for more details about this event.
