What We're Reading - My Name is Mary Sutter by Robin Oliveira

My name is Mary Sutter, by Robin Oliveira, tells the tale of an Albany, NY midwife who desperately wants to become a surgeon in an age when women were excluded from this profession. Her journey begins as the Civil War starts, and the book walks the reader through what it was like to be a doctor or nurse during the early stages of the Civil War. Lincoln, Dorothea Dix and other historical figures are woven into the story. Blood, guts and determination make this a great read for the historical fiction buff.

Thanks to Bonnie Y. for the review!
