Burbank Teens' Favorite Reads!

The Burbank Teens’ Favorite Reads Book List #4 is here!

The Young Adult Services Department of the Burbank Public Library encourages teens to tell us what they’re reading, by writing book reviews--for contests during the year, and during the summer for Teen Summer Reading prizes. The teen librarians read through all these reviews and select the most popular books to include in a book list, so that all the teens of Burbank will know what their peers are reading.

This year’s list is a good one—it includes stand-alone novels, series and sequels, graphic novels and manga, and nonfiction—55 entries altogether (though if you count the sequels and the rest of the books in the series, it covers many more!). There’s something for everyone—realistic fiction, fantasy, science fiction, historical fiction, and biography. There are old favorites and brand new hits. There are books to appeal to every age from 12 to 18…and many adults will enjoy some of these selections too!

The cover of the list was created by the winner of last year’s “Judge A Book By Its Cover” contest, Sky Kim, who liked Coraline by Neil Gaiman, but didn’t think the cover art was a window into the soul of the book.

You can pick up a copy of this book list at any Burbank Public Library in the teen section, or if you want to get right to checking out books, you can go to our catalog, click on “Have You Read?” (in the upper right-hand corner), select “Teen Booklists,” and look for the Blue Ribbons to find Burbank Teens’ Favorite Reads #4. This takes you right to the catalog entries for all the books, so you can see which library has the one you want, and check it out!
