Favorite Reads 2010: Llama Llama!

It's that time of year again--your friendly neighborhood librarians are eager to tell you about their favorite reads of 2010. Here is our new children's librarian Carey V. with a review:

Who hasn’t felt overwhelmed by the holiday season? The shopping, the baking, the parties and gifts. It can be a green and red blur, especially for little ones anxiously counting down to the big day. All this is perfectly captured by Anna Dewdney in her latest in the wonderful “Llama Llama” series, Llama Llama Holiday Drama.

There is so much to do for little Llama and his mama, presents to buy and trees to light, that it seems the special day will never arrive. All this leads to a monumental meltdown of “holidrama” but mama comes to the rescue and reminds little Llama that the best gift is always a warm hug and snug with the ones we love. Dewdney, as always, has a way of capturing the joyful--and not so joyful--moments in life in her charming illustrations and rhyming prose that kids love. This lovely tale is definitely a holiday storytime classic that will be shared for years to come.
