Book Sale Recap

The library would like to express heartfelt thanks to the Friends of the Burbank Public Library, to the teen volunteers, to the Elders from the first ward of the LDS church, and to all those who shopped at the APRIL BOOK SALE for making it such a success!

This is the first time the Friends have set a specific dollar amount goal for the book sale, and the steadily rising barometer in the hallway outside the auditorium let us all know that people were paying attention. Without the funds provided by the Friends with this activity plus proceeds from the bookstore at the Buena Vista branch, the library would be a much less vibrant place! Funds raised by the Friends pay for:
  • Summer reading programs for children, teens and adults
  • Books and refreshments for four book clubs for children and teens
  • Programs for children, teens and adults throughout the year
  • Materials including e-books and downloadable audio

Susan Miceli, who ably chaired the book sale this spring, reported that the sale collected $8,275, and further that 16 people were new volunteers! You, too, could consider becoming a Friend to the library in a more formal capacity; membership applications are available at all library service desks!
