The Importance of Being Earnest

Next Wednesday night, June 12, is the first big event of the Teen Summer Reading Program: a Readers' Theater production of The Importance of Being Earnest, by Oscar Wilde, starring Burbank teens!

Readers' theater is just what it sounds like--the parts are not memorized but are read from scripts, but expressively, in a theatrical manner with some staging. We had enough teens who wanted to participate this year that we were able to trade roles around and do two performances, so if you miss the first performance, Wednesday June 12 at 7:00 p.m. at Buena Vista branch, you can catch the second performance (with different teens in the roles) on July 2 at the Central Library. But do put one or the other on your calendar--this satirical comedy of manners is not to be missed!

Here are some members of our cast, hard at work rehearsing: Susie, Tamara, Hoda, Mason, Alex, Molly, Allen and Alex, with Melissa and Anarda (directors/producers!). They and we hope to see you Wednesday night!
