Who doesn't love a used book sale? Especially these days, when both the small independents and the big box stores are going away and there's nowhere besides the virtual world to browse for a good read!

NEXT WEEK, Monday through Saturday, is the Friends of the Burbank Public Library's Fall Book Sale, and it's a good one! The Central Library auditorium is filled to bursting with hardcover and paperback fiction and nonfiction, reference, audio, CDs and DVDs for sale at very reasonable prices.

Beyond that, though, is the satisfaction of knowing you are supporting the library in a very real way by spending your dollars (or quarters!) at this sale, since funds raised by the Friends pay for:

  • Children's programming (such as the Fairy Book Party, Family Nights, crafts, summer reading club performers and prizes...)
  • Teen programming (such as three book clubs for teens, Readers' Theater, contests, crafts, teen summer reading program)
  • Adult programming (movie licensing, bands, speakers, performers, adult summer reading)
  • Special projects and acquisitions by the library

In fact, without funding by the Friends, there wouldn't be much going on at the library!

Monday, October 28 from 5-8 p.m. is a preview sale for Friends members only. But you can easily JOIN THE FRIENDS and get into the preview that night!

Tuesday, October 29:       10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Wednesday, October 30:  10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Thursday, October 31:      10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Friday, November 1:         10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Saturday, November 2:     10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Feed your need to read, and help support our library! The Friends' goal is to raise $10,000 with this sale. Help out, will you?
