MEETING: BPL FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY
The Friends of the Burbank Public Library is a volunteer non-profit organization that is vitally interested in promoting books and the library to the Burbank community. Meetings are held on the fourth Wednesday of the month (from September through June) at 6:30 P.M. in the Burbank Central Library auditorium. COMPUTER 101:
INTERMEDIATE MICROSOFT WORD
The class, which should be taken by those who already have some experience with Word, will be the same on both scheduled days, April 27 and 29. Sign up for one class only by calling 818-238-5580.

Topics will include:
  • Inserting a picture 
  • Creating a table 
  • Inserting hyperlinks
  • Creating footers and headers 
  • Adding footnotes

LEO DUROCHER IN HOLLYWOOD
Television archivist Dan Einstein will introduce three programs from the extensive holdings of the UCLA Film and Television Archive:
  • A 1954 episode of The Jack Benny Program titled “The Giant Mutiny,” a takeoff of The Caine Mutiny.
  • An eleven-minute clip from The Dinah Shore Chevy Show from 1960 featuring Durocher and members of the Los Angeles Dodgers, including John Roseboro, Gil Hodges, Duke Snider, & Don Drysdale.
  • The hilarious 1963 episode of Mister Ed, entitled “Leo Durocher Meets Mister Ed.”
In conjunction with the program, The Baseball Reliquary and the Institute for Baseball Studies (Whittier College) present "Leo Durocher: Baseball’s Prodigal Son," an exhibition based on Paul Dickson’s biography of one of the most colorful and important figures in baseball history. The exhibition, which will run from April 8-May 25, 2017 in the lobby of the Burbank Central Library, utilizes photographs, artifacts, and artworks, in addition to text from Dickson’s book, to reveal Durocher’s extraordinary life and times. Signed copies of Mr. Dickson’s book will be available at this program.
